This article is intended for CounselGO users who are familiar with submitting LEDES invoices. If not, please see this overview. If you see the following error when submitting a LEDES invoice through CounselGO, continue to the section below for tips on how to fix the potential issue.
Top Items to Troubleshoot
- The LEDES was not recognized in the standard LEDES format. (LEDES1998B[] or LEDES98BI[] V2).
- The header identifier row is missing (LEDES1998B[] or LEDES98BI[] V2) and should only be listed once.
- There are extra or missing columns. (There should be 24 columns for LEDES1998B
and 52 columns for LEDES98BI V2). - The brackets at the end of each line of the file are missing. (Lines must end with [])
- There is an incorrect field delimiter. (All should be pipe delimited ‘|’ )
- There are unrecognized or non-ASCII characters.
- The date format should NOT have a '/' in it. (It should be format YYMMDD)
- The LEDES file was not saved in a .txt or .dat format.

Other Troubleshooting Tips
Try the following if you have already checked for the potential errors mentioned in the section above and are still having issues with loading the LEDES file:
- If you are attaching more than one file at a time from the Upload Files page, try attaching only the LEDES file. You can upload additional PDF files during the next step.
- If possible, make sure you are using the latest version of Google Chrome when logging into CounselGO. We also recommend clearing your browser cache/cookies.
