If your client or CounselGO Admin has granted you relevant file sharing permissions, you can view general files shared with you by your client and also share files with your client. General files are not associated with specific matters and refer to service agreements, billing guidelines, or other standard documentation specific to working with your client. NOTE: To ensure data protection, files must be shared by your client with individual users with the correct permissions from your firm. You may receive email notifications when new files are shared directly with you. If you do not see an expected file, contact your CounselGO Admin or client.
To view general files shared with your firm:
1. Go to Files from the left-side navigation bar.
NOTE: If you do not see the Files menu option on the left, this means that you have not been assigned general file sharing permissions. Contact your CounselGO Admin or client directly for assistance.
2. Click on the Shared With Me tab.
3. To view the file, click on the ... (more) option under the Actions column and select Download.
You will receive email notifications if your client renames the shared file and/or stops sharing it.
About Inactive Clients
If your client has deactivated your firm in SimpleLegal, you will no longer have access to general files that were shared with you or general files that were shared by your firm.
In cases when your firm is reactivated, any files shared by your firm will be restored under Files > Shared By Us. If there are files that were previously shared by your client that you need to access, please ask them to re-share them with you so that they appear under Shared With Me.
