This article is intended for users who are familiar with submitting invoices through CounselGO. If not, please see the overview.
In most cases, the only requirement when submitting a LEDES invoice is to attach a PDF copy of the invoice. Some clients, however, may also ask for backup files or receipts. You can scan all of the receipts and backup files and save them as one PDF file. When you are preparing the invoice for submission in CounselGO, you can attach the PDF file along with the PDF copy of the invoice.
To add PDF files, follow the instructions below:
You have two opportunities to upload files with an invoice: during initial upload of the LEDES file, or during the review of the LEDES file. You can also verify the files are attached prior to submission.
CounselGO recommends that you verify that the invoice amounts match across the LEDES file and PDF, including any discounts, before submitting the invoice to your client.
Attach Files During Initial LEDES Upload
1. Log into CounselGO. and choose the relevant client from the list.
2. Click New Invoice in the top-right corner.
3. Select Upload LEDES files.
4. Click Choose Files to find/select the relevant LEDES file. You can also upload backup files and receipts and/or the PDF copy of the invoice at this time (or during the review step).
Attach Files During Review
After clicking Next, Validate Invoices... you can attach the PDF copy of the invoice and/or the backup files and receipts by clicking Add PDF copy attachment.
Click Choose Files to find/select the files from your computer and then click Save and Close.
Verify PDFs are Attached
Before submitting a new or draft invoice, verify that the necessary PDF files are attached by doing one of the following:
Verify you see the paperclip icon in the Attachments column of the Review page.
Go to Saved Invoices > LEDES in the top-left. If the invoice was recently saved with attachments, the paperclip icon should appear between the Total and Status columns.
If you click on a saved invoice to view its details, you can verify which files have been uploaded by looking under the Attachments section.
